Does Individual Gambling Behavior Vary across Gambling Venues with Differing Numbers of Terminals? An Empirical Real-World Study using Player Account Data

Research examining gambling behavior via experiments, self-report, and/or observation presents many methodical challenges particularly in relation to objectivity. However, the use of player account-based gambling data provides purely objective data. Based on this real-world data, the primary aim of the present study was to examine gambling behavior in gambling venues with different numbers of gambling terminals. Overall, the present study demonstrates that in the natural gambling environment, gambling behavior is reinforced in venues with multiple terminals.

Call for Grant Applications - PhD: GambleAware

GambleAware has announced that it will fund a new PhD project to boost Great Britain’s problem gambling research capacity. Funding totalling just over £60,000 will be provided to the successful applicant over a period of three years. Projects will be related to GambleAware’s aims, objectives and programme themes, and support the National Responsible Gambling Strategy – which includes developing understanding of specific areas of gambling-related harm. The deadline for written applications is 31 May 2018 and funding will be in effect from autumn 2018. Call for Applications: U of Sydney Gambling Treatment Clinic and RG Research Group

 

The University of Sydney Gambling Treatment Clinic (GTC) and Responsible Gambling Research Group accepts applications for student Internships for early career researchers on a rolling basis.

The GTC provides treatment for gamblers and family members and the research group conducts world leading research to inform the understanding of gambling and minimise gambling-related harms.
