Madison Avenue in New York City – once the glittering epicenter of the advertising universe - were Mad Men account executives drinking highballs during meetings – has dimmed its lights in recent years as the business of advertising transitions into the digital realm, leaving the old agency mystique behind. Last year, Martin Sorrell, CEO and founder of W.P.P., the world’s largest advertising and marketing holding company, resigned. This event signaled the tectonic shift from the old ways to the new. Traditional ad agencies were designed to succeed in a mass media world, with few outlets, a manageable number of big brands, and unified distribution channels. In today’s digital landscape, however, the game has changed to consumer search, peer reviews, and social platforms. There is infinite shelf space, shopping is available 24-7-365, and direct-to-consumer models are unbundling once-powerful brands.

The Exciting Journey of EuroMillions

EuroMillions was launched by France, Spain, and UK National Lottery on February 7, 2004. Eight other countries joined later that year, on October 8, 2004: Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal Switzerland. Draws take place on Tuesday and Friday evenings with a minimum guaranteed jackpot of €17 million, which can roll over up to the cap of €190 million. Sports betting won't launch in D.C. in time for NFL season

Once the industry is launched, the city hopes to bring gambling out of the shadows and into a legal market projected to bring $17.1 million in tax dollars next year.  "In terms of capturing all of the illegal market, I don't think that any jurisdiction can say that they can successfully do that 100 percent,"  Beth Bresnahan, executive director of the D.C. Lottery said. "But we are going to work to put forth an entertaining and competitive product that captures a large market share."

Kansas Lottery Transfers $173.6 Million to the State of Kansas in Fiscal Year 2019
