CT Lottery’s New "Fast Play" Progressive Game Creates First Jackpot Winner

“The Fast Play Progressive Jackpot games had a very successful first week, with better than expected sales,” said Greg Smith, President and CEO of the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. “It was great to see two jackpot wins occur in the first week – one at the $1 price point, and the second a $5 price point win – allowing players to see how the jackpot grows and resets based on the amount of the win. Ohio Lottery Reports Sales of $4.3 Billion - Profits of $1.13 billion for Education

“We saw negative impacts on sales in the last quarter of the fiscal year due the Coronavirus pandemic, which the gains in scratch-off sales helped to offset. Throughout the last year, the Lottery proactively utilized predictive modeling tools to optimize scratch-off inventory levels at retail locations. Similar to the rest of the industry, sales remained steady during this time due in part to the limited entertainment options available,” Ohio Lottery Director Pat McDonald said.

Online Virginia Lottery games pass $20 million in prizes

The N.C. Education Lottery raised $729.8 million to support education programs in North Carolina in fiscal year 2020

Iowa lottery revenues and prizes drop, but it meets budget

Although the lottery met its budget targets, sales in fiscal 2020 decreased 4.8% from the previous year’s total of $390.9 million. Revenue turned over to various state causes dropped 12.3% and prizes to players decreased 2.3% from the previous year’s total.  The numbers were largely impacted by two main factors: the COVID-19 pandemic and a relative lack of big jackpots in national lotto games, according to Iowa Lottery Chef Executive Matt Strawn.

West Virginia: pandemic closures end Lottery's 17-year streak of topping $1B in annual revenue

Gross revenue for the 2019-20 budget year, which ended June 30, topped out at $955.7 million, a drop of $187.4 million from 2018-19. However, June saw gross revenue up 10% year-on-year, and Limited Video Lottery LVL had a record month, up 27% from June 2019.

Lottery Overcomes Pandemic Slide To Post Strong Profits

"We really have had a phenomenal record over the last five years of setting various records every year, either in the area of sales or particular products or overall products, and also on the profit side," Executive Director Michael Sweeney said. "But I really have to say that given the unprecedented situation that developed in March, and really the complete need to reengineer and reformulate how we operated the Lottery — everything from distribution to interaction with our customers — this $979 million profit number is actually the number that I'm the proudest of."
